The Million Pound Bank—Note

背景:该课的主要内容是根据马克·吐温的名著《百万英镑》改编而成。今天讨论的是剧本中第一幕的第三场。富商兄弟俩打赌把一张百万英镑给了一个一无所有、诚实可靠的穷人,想看看会发生什么事,最后他们物色到一个穷困潦倒、流落伦敦街头的美国小伙子Henry Adams. 衣衫褴褛的流浪汉Henry Adams到餐馆用餐,先遭到冷遇,而后由于拿出一张百万英镑的大钞,又倍受关照的有趣故事。作者用诙谐的笔调讽刺了资本主义社会拜金主义者的丑陋嘴脸。要学生展开想象假如自己有了一张百万英镑的钞票会怎么做。由一个小组(该班52人,分成七个小组,每组6人)的学生把整个故事自编自导,用话剧的形式表演一遍(用英语)目的是让其他的学生更好的理解整个故事。然后老师问。

(T 指老师,SS指学生)
T:Is money everything in the world?(在这个世界金钱万能吗?)
SS: yes.(是的)
T: Why?(为什么)
SS: If you have no money, you can’t do anything you like. For example:
If I have no money, I can’t go to school. In my village, some girls like my
Age can’t go to school though they want to very much, because their
Family are very poor, their parents can’t afford them to go to school. I
think I am a lucky one.I must thank my parents and study hard .

一个来自农村的学生说:“如果没有钱,我就不能上学,比如说,在我们村,有些像我这样年龄的女孩就不能上学,因为她们的家庭太困难了,我必须感谢我的父母,是他们让我有机会上学,我必须努力学习报答他们。”

SS: Money is not everything in my opinion.

(在这个世界金钱并不是万能的)

T: Why?
SS: Because money can’t buy friendship, health, time, true feelings
or knowledge.If you can’t use money correctly, it will do harm to you.
For example: Some people spend much money on gamble, cocaine,
cigarette,net.If they are addictive, you don’t like working hard.
They only want to get something that belongs to others.

“钱不能买来友谊、健康、时间、真挚的感情或知识。如果你不正确使用金钱,那么金钱只能给你带来伤害。比如说:一些人不务正业,花大量的钱在赌,吸毒,抽烟,上网,养成好吃懒做、坐享其成的坏
习惯,钱越多伤害越大。

T:You are quite right. If you have a million pound bank-note, what will
you do?(你的观点非常正确,如果你有一张百万英磅,你将怎么花呢?)
SS1: I will use it to buy a villa for my parents, Because I love them.
(我将用它买豪华型别墅给我的父母,因为我爱他们)
SS2: I will go travelling around the world. Specially go to America to
learn English well, because English is a useful tool, it is a bridge to
the world. I can use it to earn the foreigner’s money.(我将环游世界,然后去美国学英语,英语是一门有用的工具,我可以用它赚外国商人的钱 )

T:You are wonderful. You will be successful in the future.
Where there is a will, there is a way.(你太棒了,你一定会成功的,有志者事竟成。)

SS3:I will use the money to build a road for the villagers.Because
the place where I live is very far away from the city, the traffic is terrible,
The villagers live a hard life.When someone is ill, the villagers can’t send him
to hospital at once, and sometimes the patient die. So in my opinion,
roads are very important for the villagers, the villagers will benefit
From them.(我要为我家乡的村民建一条路,因为我家住在一个很远的山村,交通不方便,有时,村民病了,因为不能及时送医院而死了或留有后遗症。这路将给村民很多好处。)

T:You are a kind-hearted and determined boy, I should do honour to you
And I will be proud of you.(你是一个好心又意志坚强的人,我应向你敬意,我以你为自豪。)……(整个讨论热烈,课堂气氛达到高潮……)

The bell rang, class is over.(这时,铃声响,下课时间到)
T: Money is very important, but it isn’t everything, do you think so?
(教师:金钱很重要,但并不是一切,你同意吗?)

SS: Yes.(学生:是的)
T:Let’s stop here. Go home and write an article in English, the topic is “
Is money everything, why”. (今天就到此为止,回去用英语写一篇文章,

题目是:“金钱是否万能,为什么?”

反思:创设问题情景,引入问题,通过“金钱是否万能”的问题探索,把课堂还给学生,把学习的主动权交给学生,给学生自由发挥的空间,从学生的实际情况出发,以他们熟悉,而且也是当今社会的热点问题“金钱”展开讨论,整堂课老师只是一个组织者,欣赏者,和学生一起探究,“是平等中的首席”。让学生了解金钱在现实生活中的利弊,正确对待金钱。整堂课关注学生的道德生活和人格养成。课堂不仅是学科知识传递的殿堂,更是人性养育的圣殿。课堂教学蕴藏着丰富的道德因素,“教学永远具有教育性”,这是教学活动的一条基本规律。

教师不仅要充分挖掘和展示教学中的各种道德因素,还要积极关注和引导学生在教学活动中的各种道德和表现发展,从而使教学过程成为学生一种高尚的道德生活和丰富的人生体验,这样,学科知识增长的过程同时也就成为人格的健全与发展过程,伴随着学科知识的获得,学生变得越来越有爱心,越来越有同情心,越来越有责任感,越来越有教养。当然,这也要求教师一定要加强自身修养,不断完善自己。
